SIBERIAN HIGHWAY PROJECT                   return to Home page

This is a documentary film project written and directed by Elena Popova and featuring Folk musicians Nadja Utkina and Sergey Kungurov from the Udmurt Republic of Russia, and blues musician Patrick Hazell from the United States. The three will be featured exploring bell sites (churches and other old centers) along the Udmurtian portion of the old Siberian Highway that traverses Russia. The trail will lead through many old villages with distinct cultural differences as this international trio of musicians seek out and ring the old church bells. Musical collaborations performed by Utkina, Kungurov, and Hazell will also be featured in villages and various spots along the way as the film reveals the culture and landscape of this ancient highway.
